"Hi Kristina,

I hope you are well, it’s great to hear you’re thinking about the pitch already. It depends on when you would be able to film - we have a children’s shows on Tue 27 Oct and Wed 28 Oct & Thu 29 Oct – however I understand this may be too early? Let me know if this is a possibility for you to be available to film (maybe check with you tutor – letting him know there will be limited children’s shows to film)  and I’ll check with the artists. At the most we’d probably be able for you to arrange to film about 15-25minutes of footage but it depends on if you’d just like general footage of people entering the show or them doing a bit of their rehearsal or both. If you had a more complex idea it may be more difficult to arrange.

Unfortunately most of our children’s shows are at the beginning of December so filming it then might be too late for you? It depends on when you need to get the first edit to us. I’ve spoken to our marketing team however and we have some footage from children’s shows we’ve filmed at the Dome already that we could send to you if you’d like so you could use this in the films – mixed in with any other footage you wanted to take of the venue.

We also have a Christmas Open Day on Sat 21 Nov 2015 which it may also be possible to film at if some of your team are free? There should be crafty type activities on the tables in our foyer – which hopefully means there would be some children around you could take some footage of in the venue.  We can also easily arrange for you to film in the Dome when it’s empty however there wouldn’t be people around then – so have a think about what you’d like to film.

So it’s not impossible, but there are only specific dates we can do – and I’d need to check with companies first - so do let me know if there’s any that you may be able to do.

In terms of the characters, it’s up to you – although it might work better to not have characters and have the camera be the eyes of someone coming to the dome. Unless you know any local children/child/young people that you could be in the film. I think you also need to think about the family element of people coming together and the fact sometimes the umbrella club children are really young and sometimes they are teenagers.  I’m not sure having an empty wheelchair in shot would work – potentially if someone was in it though. Not everyone at the Umbrella club uses wheelchairs, although about half do so it would be nice to represent it if possible. Perhaps if you were to shot someone in a wheelchair from behind it wouldn’t matter so much about how old they look. It’s all things for you to think about. Don’t be afraid about pitching something, it’s a process and it’s good to try out ideas. It may be that if you want to try out having a wheelchair you can take some footage with and then some footage without and see which works best and if it’s appropriate to have in the film.

All the best,
Hannah"
